ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski speculated that the only way the referees could reasonably have kept Kane at the game was if they hadn’t realized Kadri had suffered a head injury.
Kane told reporters after the game, according to NHL.com: “I just came in as an insider. “Puck shot long, dribbled into the far corner. I knew he liked to hit back. I was just trying to bump him, that’s really all I did. Unfortunately he went away. clumsily entered the board and injured his hand. But that’s unfortunate.”
Avs captain Gabriel Landeskog called Kadri’s injury “regrettable”. He also said that Kane understood better than hitting Kadri the way he did.
