Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, who suffered an obvious left leg injury during Game 3 of the 2022 finals, will be available for Game 4 on Friday (9 ET, ABC).
Curry seemed certain he would be a good fit for Game 4, telling reporters on Thursday: “I’m going to compete. That’s all I know right now.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he also looks forward to Curry playing as Golden State can progress to its best game, 2-2. Kerr said Golden State will not practice today and will instead use the break between games to give high-players (such as Curry) rest and treatment for injuries.
The Warriors’ last chance to come back to win Game 3 ended with 3 and a half minutes remaining on Wednesday night in a scramble that, like the game, has gone Boston’s way. Marcus Smart got hold of the ball, and the Celtics beat Golden State 116-100 and led 2-1 in the series.
One game after the Warriors overcame Boston to draw 1-1 in the championship series, the Celtics were pushed back – leaving with a 47-31 advantage in rebounds and a 52-26 advantage in points in the paint, and to back to Curry with a sore leg.
Curry said the injury is similar – “but not as bad” – as the one he suffered when Smart rolled on his ankle during a regular meeting in San Francisco in March. Kerr criticized that gameplay as “dangerous.”

The Celtics will have another chance to play in front of their passionate home audience in Game 4 on Friday.

But at the same time, your opponents are showing their best. When you’re at your best, it forces you to give your best and I think we saw the tension in the first two games where both teams were really playing at a high level, and that’s the whole idea – competition, two teams bringing out the best in each other.”
